WHILE the senior Mens team continue to struggle, the Herts Phoenix junior squad goes from the strength to strength, and on Sunday, June 23, recorded their best result of the season when they toppled Division One leaders Basildon at Wodson Park.
Phoenix finished just eight points above their rivals, while also topping Southend and Ryston.
The boys led the way, winning all three age categories (Under-13, Under-15, Under-17) with Grant Clements sharing the man-of-the-match award after winning the 100m, long jump and triple jump.
Adam Daish shared the award, following victories in the 100m, 200m and long jump at Under-15 level.
Also starring were Steven Smith and Ryan Gow, who won the 400m and 800m (Under-15's) and 100m and 200m (Under-13's).
On the girls' side, the Under-17's won by a point (Ciaran Andrews claimed the hurdles and long jump and Zoe Delaney won the 100m and long jump), the Under-15's finished second and the Under-13's third.
Leading by five points going into the relays, three wins from the boys teams ensured Phoenix the win.
