VERULAM CYCLING CLUB'S top time trialists took first place in the Century Road Club 25-mile team event on Saturday, June 22, although the bigger story was than Ian Brazier was beaten by a team-mate in a competitive event for the first time in two year.
Brazier finished fourth overall in a time of 58.40, almost a minute behind third-placed Peter Cookson.
Ian Stokes was the third Verulam rider to score, finishing in 1.07.25.
Clearly stung, Brazier produced the best time of the season the following day to complete the Oxford City 25-mile race in 56.13.
Elsewhere, Cookson completed the Eastern Counties 50-mile race in 2.01.20 to finish eighth, while Mick Roberts recorded a pb of 22.39 in the Bournemouth Jubilee 10-mile event.
