ATHLETES from Loughton AC were in action at the Southern Men's League fixture at New River Stadium, Haringey, and their all-round team performance brought a gutsy third place with 117 points.
The sprinters and jumpers produced three 'double firsts'. Rob Hyatt won the 100m 'A' in a personal best of 11.7sec, and followed up with another win in the 200m in 24.5sec.
Gavin Harper took the spoils in the 100m 'B' in a season's best of 12.2sec, and stormed away with the 400m 'A' in 56.1sec. Cliff Warren completed the double in the 200m 'B' and the 400m 'B', winning in times of 25.1sec and 58.3sec respectively.
Warren was also in top form in the jumps, winning the 'A' long jump with a leap of 5.22m and the 'B' triple jump with 11.14m. Olivier Fernandez pulled off the 'reverse' double, winning the 'B' triple jump event with a distance of 11.25m, and the 'B' long jump with 5.10m.
The longer races saw season's best times set by Mick Rolfe and Rob Sargent in the 5000m at 19min 15.4sec and 19min 42.7sec respectively, whle Steve Hall gave fantastic team back-up in the 400m Hurdles, 800m, 1500m and 3000m Steeplechase.
Warren, Fernandez, Harper and Hyatt then rounded things off successfully in the two relays, winning the 4x100 in 48.4sec and the 4x400 in 4m 0.5sec.
