A LOCAL primary school teacher has been shortlisted for a national teaching award and will come up against the nation's best educators in July.
Ms Marie-Louise Tims, of Harvey Road School, has made the final list for The Guardian Award for Outstanding New Teacher in the south east in the 2003 Teaching Awards.
Ms Tims was nominated by staff, governors and parents at the school in Harvey Road, Croxley Green.
On Friday, July 4, Ms Tims will join fellow contenders from throughout the country who have been shortlisted for The Guardian Award for Outstanding New Teacher.
Regional winners will also be announced during a ceremony held at Guildhall, in London.
The awards have seven categories, including the Award for School and Community Involvement and Lifetime Achievement.
Acting headteacher at Harvey Road School, Mrs Jane Benn said of the award: "Ms Tims who first joined us in September 2001, is a hugely talented teacher with the potential to become a teacher of excellence.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed working with her during the last two terms and fully endorse her nomination for Outstanding New Teacher."
