AN ERROR by Three Rivers District Council means Leavesden residents may have to put up with flats four metres closer to their back gardens than originally planned.
On Saturday, June 29, members of the authority's development control committee will visit the construction site, a former hospital administration block in College Road, to assess whether building works should be allowed to continue.
At a meeting of the committee on Thursday, June 13, planning officers told councillors the error had been made because of a discrepancy between the floor layout plans and the approved site layout plans.
Planning officers failed to spot the inconsistency in the plans and, as a result, the building is now four metres closer to the residents' homes than agreed.
Officers have recommended the accurate plans be granted planning permission.
