CHILDREN'S television presenter and Heart FM DJ Pat Sharpe, gave St Paul's Primary School in Chipperfield put in a guest appearance at St Paul's Primary School in Chipperfield summer fair this weekend.

Mr Sharpe, who is best remembered for his bad hairstyles and as the wacky host of the 1980's children's show Fun House, attended the fair at the Chipperfield school on Saturday, June 29.

Head teacher Mr Lyndon Evans, said: "Pat was a lovely person, fun, friendly and very enthusiastic. He stayed quite a long time which was very kind of him because his son's school fair was on the same day.

He said: "I found more parents than children seemed to know who Pat was, but he did not seem to mind and stayed to chat about his career, his current job. We do not often have celebrities but when we do they are always very supportive of St Paul's Primary School.

"The day was absolutely brilliant and the weather was lovely. There was a really great atmosphere and we had some wonderful stalls set up as well as a host of fun and games."

Mr Evans said the fair was a success thanks to the Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) who raised a total of £6,500 which will help to fund the development of a computer suite.

He said: "This is a small school which has approximately 200 students, the PTA, who are the biggest fundraisers, have proved their dedication and support over the months by helping to arrange events like the summer fair which maintain a community spirit between parents, teachers and their pupils.
