EVERY corner of The Holy Cross Church in Sarratt was flooded with a sea of pungent flowers this week to celebrate the church's annual flower festival which was cancelled last year because of foot and mouth.
The event was organised by the Friends of Holy Cross Church, Sarratt, to raise money for the repair and upkeep of the 800-year-old church and ran from Saturday, June 29, to Monday, July 1.
Rev Peter Hart of Holy Cross Church said the flower show had a good turn out this year. He said: "We had 393 people visit the show on Saturday, about 450 people on Sunday, and a few hundred on Monday."
He said: "Everyone seemed to love the flower show, they said it was the best one so far. In total we had at least 33 exhibits which were created by the Friends of Holy Cross Church, these are most impressive and a lot of imagination has been involved."
Assistant show organiser Mrs Janet Mitchell, of Sarrat, said: "I have been helping Julia Lawrence - the flower show organiser, to put this show into place. It has been a lot of fun to arrange the flowers and we have had a lot of compliments from people."
