Minakami Zanshin Karate Dojo students took part in their second grading examination this year at the Queen Elizabeth Girls School in Barnet recently.
Candidates proved to be more than able to fulfil the requirements for their new belts under the watchful eye of grading examiner and chief instructor Sensei David Webb Second Dan.
Three students, Daniel Holland, Cameron Tresman and Anthony Crocker, all from Borehamwood, received a double grade, meaning that, due to their ability, technique, form, spirit and attitude, they were able to advance two belts instead of one.
Sensei Webb said: "Although I teach, and therefore see, all of these Karateka up to seven times a week, they have improved dramatically since their last grading back in March. This is all credit to the seniors of the club and their diligent training week in week out."
He congratulated Daniel Holland, who received a double grade and the most spirited grading award on the day. The grading proved very special to five students, as two of them attained the rank of Third Kyu (brown belt) and the other three attained the rank of First Kyu (brown and double white), which means they are now only one grade from the coveted Black Belt First Dan.
Training takes place at Borehamwood's Hertswood Centre on Saturdays from 12noon until 1pm. For information telephone David Webb on 07789 961882.
