A COMEDY cartoon drawn by a well known Private Eye magazine illustrator, donated to a group of Chorleywood anti-mobile mast campaigners, will be auctioned at the Chorleywood Village Day on Saturday, July 13.
The cartoon was donated by Mr Tony Husband who is also a Times newspaper cartoonist to the recently formed campaign group, Chorleywood Against Mast-Pollution, to help them raise funds to kick-start their club.
Mobile mast campaigner, Mrs Yasmin Skelt, of Grovewood Close, Chorleywood, said: "We formed our group a few weeks ago to make people more aware of the health problems linked with the use of mobile phones and mobile masts.
"When Tony realised this, he kindly donated a cartoon about mobile phone masts to help us raise funds for our campaigning.
She said: "The picture is brilliant, so witty, it shows a shepherd and his dog talking to each other on their mobile phones. The comedy is they are three feet away from each other, and in the background you can see a mobile phone mast, which shows how much they ruin the countryside."
Mrs Skelt said she had grown very fond of the illustrations, she said: "This is a star prize whoever gets it will be very lucky indeed because the cartoonist is highly respected in his field.'
She said the Chorley Village Day would be running from 12noon to 4pm, adding: "All people have to do is buy a raffle ticket from our stall. We will also be selling T-shirts, and mobile-mast themed cakes.
"There will also be lots of literature for people to read about the dangers of mobile usage, special devices called the Acousticom and Com-monitor, which can check the electro-magnetic field of you mobile phones.'
She said special Chorleywood maps with illustrations pin-pointing the locations of 14 mobile masts would also be available on the day.
