YOUNG performers of Chater Infants School are busy perfecting their lines for a production which has seen them team up with professionals from Snap Theatre Company.
More than 50 pupils will take to the stage at the school in Southsea Avenue, Watford, next week for the production The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse.
The show addresses the cultural and social differences experienced by individuals living in the town in comparison to the country.
The performance, held at the school next Thursday, is the culmination of a series of drama workshops held at the school throughout the year by the Hertfordshire based theatre company.
The workshops aim to develop the confidence of young pupils and improve literacy and numeracy in schools, especially among children who possess English as a second language. The project is the first of its kind to be piloted in the area and has been deemed a great success to date as it gives children the unique opportunity to create real theatre with professional assistance.
Artistic Director at Snap Theatre Company, Andy Graham said: "The children are having a real input into the work and getting so much out of it.
"It has been a really enjoyable experience that we hope to repeat."
