A SERIES of attempted break-ins on several shops in the Village Arcade in the High Street, St Albans, culminated with the theft of up to £10,000 of merchandise from a newsagents in the early hours of Wednesday, July 3.
According to police the thieves had tried to break into a number of premises in the Village Arcade before breaking into the back of the Village Newsagents.
The thieves broke in through a gate and stole around £10,000 of tobacco, cigarettes and phone cards. They also took £150 of cash.
The thieves also broke into La La's sandwich shop.
