REPORTS of a racist attacker who bites his female victims are unfounded, say police.
Since the start of the month police have been receiving calls from residents concerned about rumours of a racist attacker in the West Watford area.
Inspector Ron Scales said: "Since the beginning of February we have had a number of calls from concerned members of the community regarding an attacker in the area, who is targeting women and biting them.
"A similar rumour was being circulated around areas of Birmingham. However, this originated from a domestic incident where a man was arrested for biting three members of his family.
"It appears that for some unknown reason this frightening rumour has reached Watford and spread across the area.
He added: "I would like to reassure everyone that we have not received any reports from people stating they have been attacked in this way. This appears to be an urban myth that is being fuelled by rumours."
