Reviewed by Pete Henshaw LAUNCHED to celebrated the 25th anniversary of ESPN, this is the one of three American sports games and it's a cracking little game.
However, to enjoy it you'll have to be into your sports and into your American football.
You'll also need to have a little patience and stick at the task as it can be a bit frustrating at first.
The game has the expected set up with a choice of all the NFL teams and you can enter into one-off gameplay mode and get started straight away.
While the game is the most simple NFL game I have played, the nature of American football still makes it complicated.
With the number of plays, both offense and defense (to use the American spellings), you have to keep your focus and be quick in order to successfully pull of the throw and catch if you're attacking or the sack if you're on the back foot.
But the game helps you by suggesting plays and giving you on screen guides as to where your players are running and where you can throw to. You still have to remember it and be cool under pressure though.
The game is just as American as the real thing with Chris Berman, the star presenter of ESPN, and their sideline reporter Suzy Kolber featuring with pre-game warm-up and mid-match comments.
You even get the on screen garish stats after every play and the OTT commentary to make you feel like you're really there.
Extras such as the crib, where you can build up points and use them to deck out your crib and the 25th anniversary mode, where you can replay key moments from history's greatest games, add to the enjoyment and variety.
Overall 3/5
