BOBBY lobbies will be held in Asda in Watford from Sunday, February 27.

The Herts police north Watford community team has joined forces with Asda to launch its new community initiative.

The initiative hopes to give community officers the opportunity to meet local people and listen to any issues or concerns they have.

PC Mark Spencer and PC Adele Hopkins, from the north Watford community team, will host the first lobbies, which will run from 10am until 3.30pm.

PC Mark Spencer said: "We are always looking at new ideas that make us more accessible to the public. We are well aware that local people have genuine concerns that they want to voice with the Constabulary, but may not be too sure of the best way of doing this.

"By holding these drop-in surgeries in the local supermarket we are able to get close to local people in a place where everyone feels comfortable.

"We are hoping to become a regular presence within the store.

"Our intention is to invite the residents association for each ward to join their local officer at the store over the next few months."

The Bobby Lobby scheme will see officers from the Community Team visiting the store once a month.

Each month different community officers will be at the lobby to listen to any issues or concerns from residents of their wards.

On Sunday, February 27, PC Mark Spencer and PC Adele Hopkins will be on hand to speak to residents from Leggatts and Tudor wards.
