YOUNG sports stars in Hertsmere are being given the chance to represent the borough at the annual Hertfordshire Youth Games in May, which will be attended by olympians Colin Jackson and Steve Backley.

The search is on for children aged nine to 15 involved in sport in the borough to compete against representatives from the county's other districts.

Hertsmere Borough Council is inviting all would be medal winners to strut their stuff in trials to take place in April.

Sports that will be played at the games include tennis, rugby, golf, netball, athletics, badminton, basketball, squash, cricket, football, table tennis and hockey.

The deadline for stating an interest in playing is Thursday, March 31. Anybody who is keen to cut the mustard should tell the Head of PE at their school, or telephone Hertsmere's sports development officer Rowena Finn on 020 8207 7568, or email community.services@hertsmere.gov.uk Team Managers who would like to help with coaching are also required. The same contact details apply.
