THE day's takings from a shop were stolen by thieves who demanded money from a man during a robbery last week.

The incident occurred at about 3.45pm on Tuesday, February 1, in Meriden Way, Watford.

A 46-year-old man from Wood Green in London was driving along Meriden Way, towards Garsmouth Way, when a blue Ford Mondeo pulled out in front of the vehicle causing him to brake suddenly.

Two men then got out of the Mondeo and approached the victim. They opened the driver's door and demanded money. The victim handed over a bag of takings and the offenders made off in their car towards Garsmouth Way.

Detective Constable Peter Stone, from the Western Area's Robbery Unit, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim which resulted in a large sum of money being stolen. We are appealing for the public's help in identifying the offenders of this planned robbery.

"The incident occurred at a busy time of the day and we are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious vehicles, and in particular a blue Mondeo, in the Meriden Way area. We are also keen to speak to anyone who saw two men acting suspiciously in the area."

The offenders are described as white men, aged about 25-years-old. They were around five feet eight inches tall, of stocky build with short dark hair. They were both wearing blue jeans and dark tops.
