HERTSMERE Borough Council will object to proposals for a massive housing increase in the area and is urging residents to make their voices heard.
The East of England Regional Assembly (EERA) is undergoing consultation on its spatial strategy, which could involve building 4,200 new homes in the borough.
At a meeting last week Hertsmere officials voiced serious concerns about the proposals and plans are in the melting pot for a formal objection.
Council leader Neil Payne said: "I urge all those with an interest in the future planning of Hertsmere to have a say. This is a fundamentally important document which will provide the basis for our own local planning documents.
"It will set the housing targets which we at the local level must provide for. It is important that the strategy reflects the views and concerns of the local community."
Residents can make their views known until Sunday, March 6, when the consultation period ends.
Copies of the strategy are available from local libraries, Hertsmere's area offices in High Street, Bushey and Aldenham Parish council's offices in Aldenham Avenue, Radlett.
Response forms are accessible from the EERA website at www.eera.gov.uk and can be requested by telephoning 01284 729438, or e-mailing planning@eera.gov.uk The forms can be submitted online, by fax to 01284 729447, or by post to the Assembly at Flempton House, Flempton, Bury St Edmunds, IP28 6EG.
