PLANS for roadworks in Bushey have been steered in a different direction after concerns were raised about the impact it would have on traffic.
County councillor Michael Colne attacked proposals for the Aldenham Road safety scheme devised by Hertfordshire Highways, which would have originally involved an extensive closure of The Avenue for work to be carried out.
He said: "Under the initial plans, there would have been havoc for traffic. Residents would have been extremely aggravated. Now the changes have been made I think we have established a suitable alternative plan."
Following the changes, the scheme will not involve extensive closure of roads in the area, but safety work will still take place around Grange Road and Aldenham Road.
All nearby residents will receive a letter informing them of the plans and any disruption the roadworks are likely to cause once the details have been finalised.
