GLEN JACKSON bounced back from his horror show against London Irish the previous week in style with a match-winning display in the victory over Newcastle.
The Kiwi stand-off was held culpable for Saracens' exit from the Powergen Cup after he kicked just two of seven attempts at goal in the loss to Irish five days earlier, but he was back on-form with the boot and sparkling with ball in hand on Friday evening.
"Personally, it was pretty important for me to bounce back after the disappointment of last week," he reflected. "It was a great victory and probably the best since I have been at Sarries."
Jackson was philosophical about the nature of the kicker's lot - being the hero one week and the villain the next.
"It's a kicker's life really," he said. "When you have one bad day it's always difficult to get back up.
"There were a lot of nerves with that first kick and it was good to see it go through. A couple of weeks before against Bath was pretty good but that was probably the best game I've had so far at home.
"I had a real successful year at home," added Jackson who kicked the Waikato Chiefs to the Super 12 Semi-Final and Bay of Plenty to the last four of the NPC, "and to come straight over here into another competition was obviously pretty tough. Then to get crook and miss a few games because of Europe didn't help but it's good now to finally get into it."
