NOMINATIONS are being sought for the Audentior Awards, the scheme which recognises the hard work of local people.

The awards, run by Watford Borough Council, were set up to honour those who have gone the extra mile to help friends and family or who show extraordinary commitment in their particular field of interest.

Mayor Thornhill said: "I was extremely pleased with the response which we received for the first Audentior Awards last year and look forward to a similar response this year. Watford has a lot of people who work tirelessly for the local community, who, until these awards were set up, were never recognised for their hard work, dedication and service to the community. I hope that the Audentior Awards continue to recognise those people who make our town the great place that it is".

This year there are six categories in the awards: The Mayor's award for someone who has battled against the odds to deliver the impossible for the community.

The Chairman's award for Voluntary service The Community champion award for someone who works tirelessly for the local community The Young Person award for an exceptional individual aged 16 to 18 Special needs inclusion award for someone who has enabled a person or person with special needs to take a fuller role in the life of their community.
