DOZENS of children were pulled from the wreckage of a school bus on Wednesday, January 26, after it overturned on a busy Watford roundabout.
Three people were seriously injured when the double-decker vehicle, carrying 42 pupils from Parmiter's School, fell on its side on the A405/A41 roundabout just after 4pm.
A further 16 pupils needed medical attention at Watford General Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.
Witnesses told how children scrambled from smashed windows in an attempt to escape the wreckage, "screaming and covered in blood".
Five ambulances from Beds and Herts Ambulance and Paramedic Services attended the scene, aided by two london crews, who transported the injured away from the accident.
Another bus picked up the remaining children and took them back to the school, where they were reunited with their families.
The accident caused major delays for motorists, with police closing the roundabout for more than seven hours.
