SHELTERED housing residents in Three Rivers put their heads together last week to raise £1,400 for victims of the tsunami disaster in Asia.

Residents of Grove Court, Moneyhill Court and St Mary's Court held a games afternoon in aid of the disaster on Friday, January 14, at St Mary's Court in Rickmansworth.

Residents took part in quizzes, played bingo, and held a raffle and tombola, before relaxing with a cream tea.

Around 60 residents joined in, along with leader of the council, Ann Shaw. She said: "Fundraising events like these are a fantastic way for all of us to help those affected by the disaster.

"We all really enjoyed taking part, and the amount of money raised demonstrates the great generosity of Three Rivers residents."

Scheme manager at St Mary's Court, Lilian Coniam, helped orchestrate the fundraising afternoon. She said: "After the events in Asia we decided that we should all do something to help.

"We've held charity games afternoons like these in the past and they've always proved popular and really successful.

"The games afternoon was a great way of getting everyone together to do something worthwhile, and we are so pleased that it has been such a success."
