THE latest British victim of the Asia tsunami was named today as Michael Long from Loudwater in Rickmansworth.
The 49-year-old, who previously lived in Overstream, Loudwater, was confirmed dead on Friday, January 7, by the Foreign Office.
The news comes as the number of Britons missing or known to have died in the tsunami doubled to more than 440. The confirmed dead included 36 Britons in Thailand, ten in Sri Lanka and three in the Maldives.
The latest number of British deaths makes the tsunami the worst single disaster since World War Two.
So far the appeal centre in Hendon has received more than 136,000 calls from people concerned about missing friends or relatives.
The Foreign Officer has now drawn up a list of about 2,000 missing UK residents who were in the region.
