A MAN who was seriously assaulted on Christmas morning has died as a result of his injuries.
Christopher Mason, 30, died on New Year's Eve following the attack in which he was punched in the face and fell in Market Street.
He hit his head on a brick wall and was left in a critical condition before dying from his injuries less than a week later.
The offender is described as a white male, around 6ft tall and was wearing a gold party hat. He made off in the direction of Cassio Road.
Detectives appealed to football fans at Saturday's Watford v Millwall match, relaying information to supporters over the tannoy system and handing out leaflets.
Three Asian men who helped Christopher after the attack are also being urged to come forward by detectives who say they may hold vital information.
