A motorist who lost control of his vehicle on the ring road hitting a pedestrian has had seven points added to his licence.
Mohammed Taj, 21, was going too fast in his sister’s Audi when he collided with a barrier and struck a pedestrian before coming to rest after hitting a wall near Exchange Road.
Unemployed Taj, of Trinity Hall Close, Watford, pleaded guilty to careless driving at St Albans Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecuting Mark Fleckney, said the accident took place at 8.10pm on November 2, 2008, when Taj drove the car too fast near the flyover, causing injury to the pedestrian.
However, when asked by the magistrates the extent of the injuries, the prosecution had no details and did not reveal the name of the victim in open court.
Taj had a full clean licence and represented himself in court.
He said: “I was driving too fast and having got to the bend I thought a car was coming from the slip road. I touched the brake and they locked up.
“I am really sorry for the damage and the injury to the pedestrian.”
The former head cashier had seven points put on his licence and was ordered to pay £150 in fines and costs.
