AN emergency meeting will be held on Monday to save the Croxley Green Residents’ Association from going under.
The association has represented residents for 70 years and is now in need of new members.
It has dealt with many issues including the threat of Tesco, large scale housing developments, crime, road surfacing, traffic control, medical provision and secondary school placement.
Committee member Barry Grant said: “In recent years the association has not had such a high profile but it can be the nature of such an institution to have peaks and troughs of activity.
“This is our final push to re-boot the association which is such a vital part of the community. I think that, with the injection of some new committee members and improved channels of communication, the association can become a focal point for the village.”
The association was founded back in 1939 in a bid to fight on behalf of residents in the construction of the main drainage scheme for the village.
Its role is to gather the overall views of the community on a variety of issues and to lobby whichever relevant organisation has the power to act upon those issues.
The association welcomes everyone to the meeting on Monday when it hopes to fill a number of places. It will be held at 8pm at the library in Barton Way.
