Children got their teeth into Gnasher and his friends when a Beano cartoonist visited two libraries to show them the tricks of his trade.
Comic illustrator Kev F ran workshops at Rickmansworth and Croxley Green libraries and the youngsters had a go at creating their own comic strips.
County Councillor Keith Emsall, Executive Member for Education and Culture, said: “It was a wonderful chance for children to develop their artistic talents and to produce their own rival to The Beano.”
Organised by Hertfordshire Library Service, the workshops are among special events being run throughout the county to celebrate the national Year of Reading.
