Teenage girls have flocked to Watford in their hundreds, hoping to become the next catwalk sensation.

Around 1,000 young girls flooded the Harlequin Centre to enter the Sugar and Sure Girl Model Competition 2009.

The winner will appear in Sugar magazine and potentially win a contract with the Models 1 agency, who represent Agyness Deyn and Linda Evangelista.

The roadshow, which took place last Thursday, was hosted by TV personality Joe Swash, and comprised of catwalk fashion shows featuring models from Models 1 and performances from boy band Avenue, girl group City Girls, and new pop group Billiam who have recently supported Girls Aloud on tour.

Model scouts from Models 1 scoured the crowds to find the next catwalk sensations and the potential winners of Sugar and Sure Girl Model Competition 2009.

Those who entered received a free goody bag packed full of cosmetics, beauty products and a designer clutch bag, and the latest issues of Sugar and LadMag.

Girls also had the chance to be transformed with a free makeover with Barry M cosmetics by a team of professional make-up artists.

The Sugar and Sure Girl Model Competition toured seven major shopping centres in cities across the nation during October 2008. From all the competition entries, six girls will be invited to London in December for a finalists’ photo shoot to appear in a future issue of Sugar magazine.

Sugar readers will then cast their vote for the overall winner who will become Sugar and Sure Girl Model of the Year and will appear in a beauty shoot in Sugar.
