A drug addict alleged to have breached a suspended prison sentence will discover his fate in the New Year.
Paul Crowther, 28, of The Gossamers, Watford appeared at Dacorum Magistrates Court on Friday, accused of failing to keep three probation appointments just days after the order was made.
However, the magistrates were told around the same time Judge John Plumstead had made Crowther the subject of a deferred sentence order for burglary.
The judge had given Crowther until January 2, to show he is willing to undergo drug rehabilitation, by putting off sentence for the dwelling burglary. In the meantime Crowther must provide clean drug tests and comply with other requirements.
Judge Plumstead had told Crowther if he fails to prove he can stay off drugs, he will impose a custodial sentence of around two years.
Defending on Friday, Vinod Jumnoodoo said it was therefore “pointless” dealing with the breach matters until the crown court sentence was passed.
The magistrates agreed and adjourned the matter, releasing Crowther until a hearing in December.
