Family and friends of a young Watford woman who died of cancer have raised more than £4,000 for the Peace Hospice in tribute to the “brilliant” care she received.

Wearing red t-shirts bearing the name and photograph of Lisa Ann Craig, a team of 20 raised the money, presented to the Peace Hospice this week, in a ten kilometre charity walk through Cassiobury Park last month.

Lisa died at the Hospice on June 13 aged 37-years-old from a rare form of bone cancer.

Lisa’s mother, Janice, said: “The care that Lisa and our family received was brilliant. It’s wonderful that the Hospice is here in Watford. Lisa was really comfortable as soon as she got here and the Hospice was really accommodating in letting seven of us sleep at the Hospice just before Lisa died.

“We were so impressed with the Hospice and the quality of care that Lisa received and were keen to do something challenging in memory of Lisa and in aid of the Hospice.

She added: “Everyone enjoyed the walk, although it was more challenging than we expected particularly with the hill at the end of the course. There was a good team spirit with different people leading the group at different times. Lisa would have been really touched but embarrassed that we had all got together to take part in the walk in memory of her.”
