A PRIMARY school is celebrating a glowing Ofsted report in which inspectors praised its continuing improvement and care for students.
Government inspectors rated Leavesden Green School as “good” in all areas, while also paying tribute to the great strides taken since the last inspection.
The school, which is also the lead agency for the Leavesden Children’s Centre, offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including golf and street dance.
The mixed sex school, in High Road, Leavesden, has 223 pupils.
Inspectors found that the school had strong leadership and commended the management team for working hard to improve the quality of teaching.
Following the two-day inspection in September, the report praised children’s behaviour, adding that the children were happy to go to class and were very proud of their school.
The lead inspector, Roderick Passant, wrote in his post-inspection report: “Pupils achieve well and are making good progress because of the good care and support they receive and, crucially, because the quality of learning and teaching is good.
“Teachers have a lively enthusiastic style, which encourages pupils.”
Mr Passant challenged the school to increase standards in maths and science but added: “Given their good attitudes to school, the school prepares pupils well for the next steps in their education.”
He also praised pupils’ behaviour: “Pupils have an excellent understanding of how to live a healthy lifestyle and how to look after themselves.
“They take their roles and responsibilities within the school community very seriously and, through the school council, feel that they have a voice in the school and can make improvements. As a result, pupils’ personal development is good.”
Headteacher, Anne Cook, who had only been in post for three weeks before the school’s previous inspection said she was ”very proud” of what the school has achieved since.
She also paid tribute to the school’s staff and thanked them for their “hard work and dedication”.
She said: “We work together as a team to ensure that we offer the very best education and opportunities for all our children.
“We have raised standards in the school and will continue to focus on taking the school forward, ensuring that the children are supported to enable them to make good progress in all areas.”
