Police are appealing for people who may have been approached to invest in a wine company to help with their investigation.

Officers want to trace anyone who may have been approached to buy cases of wine from Bordeux Wine Trading or International Wine Commodities, over the past three years but have never received the goods.

The wine is only offered for sale by cases, at a cost of around £5,000 each and is offered at a good price because it is only available ‘en primeur’ - purchased while it is still in the barrel before being taken to bonded UK warehouses.

The wines offered for sale are from the Bordeaux region and include:

Lafite Rothschild

Haut Brion

Mouton Rothschild

Margaux

Latour

Bordeaux Wine Trading Company Ltd is of Unit 32, The Enterprise Centre, Cranborne Road, Potters Bar and International Wine Commodities is of 1 Berkeley Street, Mayfair.

Anyone who has had contact with these companies should telephone Detective Constable Peter Thody at Hertfordshire Constabulary on 0845 3300222.

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of fraud and are currently on bail.
