Following a spate of number plate thefts in Bushey, drivers are being offered free theft resistant screws on Thursday (October 23).
Trained technicians from Halfords and officers from the Bushey Neighbourhood Police Team will be at the Costco car park between noon and 3pm and The Rutts car park, High Road, Bushey Heath, between 4pm and 7pm.
On Saturday, October 25, a similar event is being held for Radlett and Borehamwood residents at Halfords in Borehamwood Shopping Park, between 10am and 1pm and Tesco, in Shenley Road, between 2pm and 5pm.
The initiative, named Operation PL8 SAF3, has been organised after a series of incidents during which stolen number plates were used in crimes including obtaining fuel in petrol stations without paying.
