A man wearing a motorbike helmet stole cash during an armed robbery at a newsagents this morning.
Wearing the disguise, the man entered Martin's newsagents in Garston Park Parade, St Albans Road, at around 10am.
As the store's cash machine was being emptied, the man, who had a gun, demanded the money and then walked along Garston Lane.
Police then believe the robber walked towards Woodhurst Avenue, where he went into a garden, took off the helmet and drove off in a saloon car.
He was last seen at the junction with Fourth Avenue.
Police are appealing for witnesses who might have seen anything between 9.30am and 10.30am.
Anyone with information should telephone DC Dave Walker on 0845 3300222.
