RESIDENTS and traders in Croxley Green will meet next week to discuss plans by a major supermarket to build a convenience store in their midst.
The meeting, at Harvey Road School, tongiht (Monday), will examine in greater details plans by Tesco to build an Express store in Watford Road, adjacent to the Shell Petrol Station.
Organisers hope the meeting will allow objectors to the scheme to present a united and coherent argument to the district council’s development control committee, when it meets next Thursday night (October 16) to discuss the plans.
Co-organiser Barry Grant, who represents the Keep Croxley Green pressure group, described the meeting as a final throw of the dice for residents opposed to the plans.
He said: “The only real chance we have of getting this thing rejected is at the development control meeting.
“Tesco will have a very slick presentation ready so we need to counter it as best as we can. We want to see as many councillors there as possible – this is a way for them to understand the depth of opposition.”
Doors will open at 7.30pm.
