Well, we're just about slap bang in the middle of the Christmas season, so I think I'll write something about what I got for Christmas.

The best present a student can get is money. After money comes DVDs. One provides food, the other entertainment and once a student has enough money to live, they don't need to work so they have spare time so they need something to fill it. It all makes sense.

Well, I got money and with the money I bought DVDs. I find it delightfully amazing that there are now DVDs available for as little as £3!!! I now have a significantly increased DVD collection. The only problem is figuring out how to get these vast numbers of DVDs back to Wales on trains.

My new obsession, along with everyone else these days is "The Mighty Boosh". I hate to follow the crowd, but it really is incredible. In both senses of the word. It has everything you could possibly want from a sitcom (well, rather an all-over-the-place-com; there's rarely a fixed, comprehensive situation): a talking gorilla, a Shaman who "looks about 12", an emo/punk who manages to pull off really girly hair and still be adorable and Howard Moon, who I fear I am turning into. Shudder. Oh and there's the actual moon, which sings (and seriously freaks out my dog), which gives it the feel of a kids' daytime show for adults. Best of all, no heavy issues. Any time it gets near to anything less than lightweight it runs for cover in the sanctuary of insanity, which is rather refreshing after years of soaps which feel the need to present real life. That's what the News is for, isn't it? To save time on depressing TV, why don't we roll soaps and the News into one, with rubbish actors playing out current events with lots of screaming and crying and devote the rest of the time to uplifting foamy stuff? The fact that everywhere in Watford was sold out of season 1 of TMB yesterday is testament to its amazingness. Well, that shop what used to be called Virgin had one copy left, but my friend beat me to it. I'll get her. When she least expects it. But I am in possession of season 2, which has sustained me thus far.

So yes, DVDs are great. Get them for all your friends and have a DVD party with marshmallows and nibbles.

One thing which confuses me at this time of year is how the lights go up in Watford before Halloween, then vanish before Christmas is even over! Christmas is a twelve day festival, people! You'd think people would be looking for a reason to party, Watford being one of the main destinations for party pilgrims in the South East.
