I took my bike to Bristol for the weekend, cycling to Watford Junction, catching the train to Euston and then cycling the short distance along the Marylebone and Harrow Roads to Paddington.
Taking bikes on the train can be stressful at times, especially when nobody is able to tell me which end of the train the guard's van is, resulting in sprinting up to the correct end of the platform when the train pulls in.
(The London to Bristol service has a guard's van, but when travelling with my bike from Watford to Euston I normally put the bike in a space meant for wheelchairs. The Watford to Clapham Junction route, however, does have a special place for bikes, made all the more easy by being marked by red doors. Well done Southern Trains)
But once the bike is on the train, it's a very easy journey. I just have to remember to pick up my bike when I'm getting off. When travelling between London and Bristol, there's no excuses as both stops are normally the end of the line. So far I am yet to forget my bike.
