Gade Avenue, Swiss Avenue and Cassiobury Park Avenue has long been a popular shortcut route for drivers wishing to avoid the traffic on the Ricky Road.
But happy days of speeding through the Cassiobury Estate may be over with the building of a traffic light-controlled chicane near the Ricky Road end of Gade Avenue.
I have written stories in the past for the Watford Observer about residents angry at drivers using the estate as a cut-through, but maybe those days are no more as it may now take a lot longer to traverse the route than simply sit it out on the A412.
As a cyclist, what I am most happy with about the new arrangements are two large green spaces for cyclists to wait right at the front of the queue - one of my favourite pieces of new road designs.
