A fitness influencer is set to give a strength training workshop to inspire female pupils at a Watford school.
Hayley Madigan, a Oner Active athlete, will lead the initiative at Westfield Academy aiming to encourage girls to take up physical activity.
The workshop is part of Project Power, a scheme set up by fitness influencer Krissy Cela, to tackle the decline in sports and PE among teenage girls.
PE teacher and girls sports lead at Westfield Academy, Miss E Coombs, said: "This is exactly what we need in schools.
"Thank you, Krissy Cela, Oner Active and the team for launching Project Power.
"This initiative enables our teenage girls to have the proper support and attire to enjoy partaking in sports without discomfort."
The project aims to change perceptions of physical activity and boost confidence through strength training.
Research has shown that more than one million teenage girls disengage from sport after primary school, with only 59 per cent of those aged 14 to 16 enjoying PE compared to 84 per cent of boys.
The workshop, which takes place on December 10, will also feature a motivational talk and interactive Q&A session covering a range of topics including health, wellness, fitness, and careers.
