Road users were “gobsmacked” when they spotted an unusual way of transporting heavy belongings.
Andy Putnam was in the passenger seat travelling between Kings Langley and Apsley when he saw a man cycling along in front of him while pulling a Dacorum Borough Council bin that appeared to be full of scrap copper.
After around a minute behind the cyclist yesterday (November 28), he decided to start recording a video, which he shared to social media, before the bin turned off London Road and into the Sainsbury’s.

“I looked ahead and I just couldn’t believe what I saw,” he said. “I was just gobsmacked. I had never seen anything like it.”
Several residents saw the funny side after seeing the video on Nextdoor. One thought it was “a wheelie odd thing to see”, while another decided it was “taking recycling to the next level”.
Andy himself, who is from Kings Langley, wondered if it might be part of a new green initiative from the council to cut down on bin lorries.
