Councillors are set to spike littering and graffiti fines to more than double what they are now.
On Monday, December 2, Three Rivers District councillors will be asked to approve changes to its fees and charges that include huge rises for people who “spoil our streets”.
The recommendation set to be considered would see littering, graffiti and fly-posting, and littering from vehicle fines rise 133.33 per cent from £150 to £350. Fly-posting refers to illegally sticking a poster on a public wall or fence.

These are the largest increases that form part of the proposals by a wide margin and would come into force from January, next year.
Three Rivers District Council leader Stephen Giles-Medhurst said: “The council is committed to cracking down on littering and environmental crimes that spoil our streets and harm our local environment.
“By substantially increasing littering fines, it serves as a warning to litter touts to not drop their rubbish and dispose of it in the correct manner, which will help keep the district clean and green.”
In March, Watford Borough Council decided to hike its own littering fines from £75 to £250.
