The Post Office has told customers that one of its branches will be closing “due to unforeseen circumstances” from tomorrow.
Bovingdon Post Office in High Street will stop operating from 5pm (November 27) in what is understood to be a temporary closure.
Residents have been encouraged to use alternative branches in Chipperfield, Boxmoor, or Long Chaulden while it remains shut.
A letter said: “I can assure you we are currently investigating the possibility of restoring a service to this area in the near future.
“I hope to be in a position to advise you of a reopening date as soon as it is confirmed.”
It added: “Any future changes to service provision would be handled in line with our principles of community engagement.”
Under these principles, the state-owned company says that it reviews provision in an area based on current usage when a branch has an unplanned closure.

It will then make a commercial decision on whether to actively seek to replace it, rather than carrying out community engagement.
