Storm Bert wreaked havoc around the Watford area as train services were cancelled and a car showroom’s roof was split in two.

The 50mph winds also caused several trees to fall and block roads, sparked a River Colne flood warning, and forced the cancellation of Winterfest.

Pictures emerged on social media of the Chipperfield Kia dealership's roof badly damaged on Sunday - though it opened as usual today (November 25).

It replied to the post saying: "The front showroom roof section was made safe before we opened this morning. It split in two and flipped open towards the rear, a small section of approximately 70 square meters."

There was also disruption to numerous train services, including hours of Southern Rail cancellations to Watford Junction today, while the Abbey Line between Watford and St Albans was also affected until midday.

The storm caused several trees to collapse onto roads, including in Prestwick Road by Oxhey Woods, another near Mount Vernon Hospital, and in Barnes Lane, Kings Langley.

On Monday morning (November 25), residents were also warned of "possible" flooding and urged to be prepared.

High river levels from the Radlett Brook, Colne, and Mimmshall Brook sparked flooding fears, although these appear not to have come to pass, with the warning lifted by late Monday afternoon.

Across the UK, Storm Bert has caused widespread flooding and taken the lives of at least four people.

Several of the weekend's football fixtures were postponed, with games in the English Football League (EFL) being called off, as well as several in Scotland.

Watford FC's trip to Plymouth went ahead on Friday night, the game ending in a 2-2 draw for Tom Cleverley's side.
