A pair have been jailed after admitting to taking a car and going on a crime spree which included theft and fraud.

Oliver Brown, of no fixed abode in Watford, and Kaylen Donaldson, of Crabtree Lane, Hemel Hempstead, pleaded guilty to six offences each during appearances in Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (November 16), and Wednesday (November 20) respectively.

Brown, 37, took a Peugeot and drove off with it on September 10, was also guilty of driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance at the same time.

He stole food and drink worth £7.60 from a Tesco in Hemel Hempstead on August 18, various goods worth £58 from a Co-op in the town on September 9, and handled stolen goods (a North Face jacket) in Luton on September 10.

Brown was jailed for 12 weeks, banned from driving for a year, and ordered to pay back the value of the goods stolen as compensation.

Donaldson was guilty of being carried in the Peugeot and one count of theft from a shop for a pasta pot worth £2.45 from a Tesco on August 18.

The 26-year-old also admitted to four counts of fraud on September 10, for using a stolen bank card on three occasions to buy goods – including alcohol, cigarettes, and scratch cards – worth a total of £140.26 and a separate charge for dishonestly purchasing scratch cards.

She was jailed for four weeks and ordered to pay £2.45 in compensation for the offences but was also separately jailed for another two consecutive weeks on the same day, after being found guilty of failing to comply with the requirements of post custodial supervision.
