Emergency services rushed to a prominent Watford hotel tonight (November 21) after a 999 call that led to the evacuation of guests.

Eyewitness Sam Summer reported seeing three fire engines and two police cars descend on the Leonardo Hotel in Clarendon Road at around 7.45pm.

Traffic was said to be very heavy in both directions, as fire engines and police cars rushed to the hotel "very quickly", according to Sam.

Formerly known as the Jurys Inn, the prominently located four star hotel rebranded to Leonardo Hotel in 2021, as part of a rebranding exercise.

The £16.5 million hotel opened in 2009 and is a short walk from High Street and Watford Junction train station.

The nature of the incident is unknown at time of writing, with the hotel having been approached for comment.

Hertfordshire Constabulary and Herts Fire and Rescue have also been contacted for further details.
