Two van drivers have been sentenced for drink driving in Watford and Rickmansworth, with one fined more than £1,000.
Ian Wainwright, 43, pleaded guilty to driving a Volkswagen Transporter van while over the limit during an appearance in St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (November 19).
According to court documents, he had been driving in Uxbridge Road, Rickmansworth, on October 26, when the proportion of alcohol in his breath was 50 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath.
The limit is 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.
Wainwright, of Fitzwilliam Street, Swinton, was given a 14-month driving ban and fined £1,065. He was also ordered to pay a £426 surcharge and £85 in costs.

Robert Serban
On the same day, Robert Serban, of Tolpits Lane in Watford, appeared in the magistrates’ court and admitted to the same offence.
According to court documents, he had been driving a Citroen Relay van in Wiggenhall Road, Watford, on August 7, while the proportion of alcohol in his urine was 165 milligrams per 100 millilitres.
The limit is 107 milligrams per 100 millilitres of urine.
Serban, 30, was fined £384 and received 10 points on his licence. He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs.
