A boarding school in Aldenham has confirmed a teaching veteran has taken over as its new headteacher.
Richard Stanley, who was recently announced as the new head of Edge Grove, has been in primary education for more than 40 years and has outlined his plans for success.
He retired to England after 27 years as head of two prestigious prep schools in South Africa. However, he came out of retirement to join the prep school as the interim head back in September 2022.
"I am thrilled to take on the headship at Edge Grove," Mr Stanley said.
"The school is a very special place, a bustling city school situated in tranquil countryside is how I would describe it.
"We're easily accessible from London but have the benefit of being surrounded by many acres of beautiful parkland."
He added that the school's former leadership has created a "very unique and diverse environment", which Mr Stanley is keen to build on.
"It is vital that the extension of family and individuality is embedded within our school's DNA."
Mr Stanley said he aims to promote academic excellence while advancing the school's mission to "know and grow every child".
He wants to build on the legacy of Ed Balfour, his predecessor, and is committed to celebrating "diversity and individuality".
While announcing the change, the school praised Mr Stanley's ability to quickly build strong relationships with staff, parents and pupils and his close relationship with the outgoing former head.
The chairman of governors at Edge Grove School, David Williams, said: "We are delighted to announce the appointment of Richard as our new head.
"He is passionate about every child being at the centre of everything we do, and I know that under his leadership, our pupils will continue to thrive in a supportive and enriching culture that prepares them for their future lives."
