Plans to extend a hotel with 48 new bedrooms and expand its dining facilities have been submitted for approval.
Village Hotel Watford, off the A41 North Western Avenue near Elstree, wants to put up a new building in an area of its car park that would be connected to the main hotel via a link bridge.
The planning application, added to Hertsmere Borough Council's planning portal this week, also includes an extension of its restaurant canopy to create more floorspace for the pub and grill.
Village Hotel, which advertises itself to businesspeople as well as tourists including Warner Bros Studio Tour visitors, says it needs to create more space as it is regularly filling up and expects demand to increase in the future.

Planning documents state: “The hotel is operating at capacity and there will be many occasions where those working in the area will not be able to reserve a space within the hotel as it is at capacity.
“With no bedspaces available, it will make it more difficult for those working and visiting the business park to work and stay in this area.”
The application is currently awaiting the borough council’s decision.
