A children's play space has been upgraded in North Watford thanks to a £12,500 borough council grant.
The Neighbourhood Grant programme funding will help sort wear and tear at Foxhill, with improvements deemed necessary to keep up with the growing community.
New families have moved into the area as part of regeneration efforts, leading to a higher demand for better recreational facilities, Watford Borough Council has said.
The play space now has modern amenities, inclusive equipment, and improved landscaping.
Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: "I know how important it is for the physical and mental health of young people that we have excellent playgrounds right across the town.
"Every year since 2013, the council has delivered significant improvements to play and recreational facilities in all parts of Watford."
He continued: "We are delighted to support Watford Community Housing in their efforts to enhance the play space in Foxhill.
"This grant reflects our commitment to investing in projects that promote community well-being and create positive social spaces for residents to enjoy."
Residents were asked for their ideas and suggestions for the project to make sure the upgraded play area met the needs and preferences of the neighbourhood.
Watford Community Housing, responsible for the refurbishment, hopes the new play area will be a high-quality outdoor space where families can gather, children can play safely, and neighbours can socialise.
Amy Willcox-Smith, WCH's assistant director of customers and communities, said: "We are immensely grateful to the council for their generous support through the Neighbourhood Grant programme.
"This funding has enabled us to transform the existing play space into a vibrant hub for families in Foxhill, enhancing the overall quality of life for residents in the area."
The next round of funding for the Neighbourhood Grant will be in 2025.
North Watford county councillor Asif Khan, who supported the scheme amid requests from residents, said: "I’m pleased to see these upgrades in place. This new equipment will provide children in the community with a safe and fun place to play."
