A “warm and welcoming” Watford school has achieved top standards, a recent Ofsted visit confirmed.
The ungraded inspection of Field Junior School, in Watford Field Road, found that it maintains the same levels that earned it an ‘outstanding’ grade at its last full inspection.
Ofsted's report, published yesterday (November 14), found that pupils are “proud to attend” and “rise to the high expectations all adults have for them” while praising teachers for how they respond to their classes’ needs.
Inspectors spoke to the headteacher, other leaders, teachers, and support staff over two days in October, as well as taking ‘deep dives’ to look at work and visit lessons in English and maths.
Highlighting the Field Junior’s positive culture, the report added: “The school is a warm and welcoming place to learn.
“Pupils can be themselves and let their personalities shine through. They do so with respect and care for each other.”

One area for improvement was given, with inspectors asking the school to ensure that the curriculum explicitly outlines the depth of knowledge pupils need in a few subjects.
Prior to Ofsted moving away from single-phrase grades in September, the school held an ‘outstanding’ grade. The October visit was to confirm that it maintained those standards, which it had.
Field Junior School has 241 pupils, aged seven to 11, on its roll.
